PAINT CORRECTION
Swirls and scratches removal

2013 Range Rover - 3 Stages Of Paint Correction.

Introduction

The longevity and appearance of your vehicle's paintwork are directly influenced by your maintenance routines. Quick, routine car washes can accelerate the deterioration of your vehicle's exterior, contrasting sharply with the enduring beauty of a vehicle meticulously cared for over the years. Paint degradation is a complex issue, influenced by environmental aggressors such as UV exposure, acid rain, sap, and tar, along with mechanical damage from scratches and swirls incurred through automatic car washes or improper washing techniques. Once the damage is inflicted, it becomes a permanent mark on your vehicle, only reversible through a comprehensive paint correction process.

Process

Our method begins with a detailed wash, preparing the vehicle's surface through a clay bar treatment that meticulously removes embedded contaminants. This step is crucial for stripping away any oils and waxes that cling to the paint, ensuring a clean slate. Following this, the vehicle is dried using a combination of compressed air and microfiber towels, and protective tape is applied to all trims to safeguard them during the correction phase. Paint correction is a tailored process; depending on the condition of your vehicle, it may range from a single-stage to a four-stage correction. Our goal is to restore the paint to a like-new state by meticulously leveling the surface, eliminating 80 to 100 percent of all imperfections without resorting to fillers. This ensures a genuinely restored surface, reflective of our commitment to quality and detail.

Protection

Upon achieving a revitalized paint surface, the best thing would be to shield your vehicle's newly refined exterior. We recommend the application of our IGL Ceramic Coatings or Clear Paint Protection Film to preserve the paint's pristine condition. This protective layer serves as a durable barrier against future environmental and mechanical hazards, ensuring the longevity of our detailed work. Following the detailing service, maintaining your vehicle's aesthetic becomes straightforward with our Regular Maintenance Plans, designed to keep your vehicle in its peak condition without the hassle.

ORANGE PEEL REMOVAL / WET SANDING
A true Supercar finish

How_To_Remove_Orange_Peel_Without_Sanding_028.jpg

To be done only once in the vehicle's lifetime

Intro: About 20 years ago, orange peel was not the norm. This has slowly changed and now manufacturers such as BMW and Mercedes who are renowned for their luxury and supreme engineering sell their cars without properly removing the orange peel.

Removing orange peel can only be done once the paint is fully cured.  Tens of hours can be spent on removal, which of course affects the bottom line. This process is still a must for the high end super-cars such as Lamborghini, Ferrari & Rolls Royce.

Process: Before starting the work, we measure the paint thickness to ensure the paint is thick enough to move forward with the sanding. Depending on your vehicle's condition and paint type, harder (eg. European cars) or softer (Asian cars) we can use up to 8 different sanding grits, ranging between 600 to 8000 level. We always start with the least aggressive and move up grades until the right sanding grit is found to suit that specific vehicle.

Once the paint is flat, with few or no peaks in the paint, we move on to Paint Correcting. A minimum of 2 steps will be used to make the paint look better than it ever did.

The best thing is that once the orange peel is removed, it will never come back again leaving you to enjoy the clear, mirror like finish, found only in high end, exotic cars.

HEADLIGHTS RESTORATION

Headlights deteriorate overtime, the main factors causing it are the sun’s UV rays, the heat coming from inside the light, swirls and scratches.

This issue is not only cosmetic, but it is also a safety matter. That is why the brighten given out by light is measured at the Warrant of Fitness place.

Headlights slowly degrade and eventually start showing signs of oxidation, fading & yellowing. All these affect the headlight clarity and their overall durability. We can restore them to their former glory. Once restored, we can apply a protective coating that will last for years.

The method used is similar to the orange peel removal process but on a much smaller scale. We us 3 different sanding grits to remove imperfections and level down the area until is smooth. Sometimes, if the headlights are very damaged, we might go over with 4 or even 5 different sanding grits in order to remove all oxidation and wear properly. Following this, we use a 3 stage polishing steps to bring back the transparent clarity. Once the clarity is back we apply IGL Headlight Ceramic Coating.

DETAILED TOUCH-UP

We recommend the detailed touch-up for valuable vehicles or where a high end finish is required. This is a 6 step process. For daily drivers, a general 2 step touch up will be enough.

Any touch up is better than no touch-up. Leaving the surface exposed will cause the metal to rust. The layers of paint underneath the top coat are often different in colour, which makes the stone chips stand out more.

Our detailed touch-up process is much different than a standard touch-up process.

The area to be touched up is thoroughly cleaned to remove any oils. Then the edge of the chip is carefully sanded until it is smooth. The touch up paint is then safely dabbed into the chip and left to dry. Once dried, the freshly painted area will receive a very light sand to remove the "crown" and level the paint down smoothly. Once that is done, we polish the areas to a defect free and high gloss, leaving you to wonder ... where were the stone chips?

Prices start at $140 (under 10 separate stone chip repairs)
